Feral Folk is a collaboration between Among the Oaks and Kentucky Heartwood. The goal of these markets is to elevate land-based crafters and connect our communities to their work, as well as introduce folks to Heartwood's forest protection work.

Land based craft is rooted in land stewardship. By supporting crafters whose work is heavily inspired by their relationship to the land, or who produce, forage or otherwise locally source their materials, we can make land stewardship an important part of livlihoods. Beyond protecting and honoring natural resources, land- and place-based craft enriches the lives of everyone it touches. In a world increasingly disconnected from the land that sustains us, we believe keeping these traditional crafts alive is incredibly important!

Join us for a market! We host two markets a year in Central Kentucky - on Mother's Day and on the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

  • Items for sale are both handmade and made with either a majority natural materials or inspired by a connection to land/nature

  • Item parts/ingredients are thoughtfully and ethically sourced, supporting local producers when possible

  • Items not accepted: made with artificial fragrance, made with mostly plastic, reselling plain crystals, made with mostly imported crystals (priority is given to jewelry makers who use some locally procured materials)

  • While we do value a thoughtful booth setup and a certain degree of professionalism, we do not prioritize makers who are well established. We care more about the craft itself being of high quality than the experience you have as an established business.

  • Items, general brand presence and booth aesthetic fits our market theme: nature, handmade, funky, whimsical

  • Priority is given to makers based in Eastern Kentucky, then Kentucky as whole, then Appalachian regions of surrounding states

  • We are especially interested in makers whose work is based in culturally important craft and/or craft that is based in land stewardship, i.e. crafts that utilize natural materials that you grow or wildcraft (weaving, dyeing, preserved foods, woodwork, leatherwork, etc)
